Chapter Eleven

“The head that had once been attached is now hanging half off with blood leaking down her front steps. Pumpkin was in at least three pieces not including his head.

“Officials are still trying to piece together what happened in this small quiet neighborhood. They say that at ten tonight an intruder broke into the home killing the cat as you can see on the front porch. The intruder ripped the door off its hinges and destroyed the home. Chunks of the wall are also missing, along with pictures that used to be on them.

“Neighbors tell us the woman who lived here was very nice and happy to get along with others. No one has any idea where Ms. Fink is at this hour. The horrible side to this story is that a body was found inside. At this time police are withholding his name until next of kin can be contacted.

“Officials are asking for your help tonight in locating this man *a picture of Craven appears on the screen* and this woman *a picture of Amèliä appears*. They are wanted in connection to this gruesome crime.”

She had no idea she was screaming until she heard the TV click off. Tears were streaming down her face and she knew she would get sick soon. Her food was spoiling in her stomach and she wanted nothing more than to curl into a ball. The news report said that someone had been killed in her house. Not only had they killed him but they killed her cat. Pumpkin had been with her since her father had died, she didn’t know if she could handle this. She felt a hand on her shoulder and she cringed away from it. She didn’t see his face and at this point in time she didn’t want to. She wanted to cry herself to sleep and not think about her best friend being dead and her cat also being gone. The room started to spin and she knew in a few moments she would be gone.

“You need to breathe, Majesta.”

“The hell I do, they killed my cat and Rick. I should have warned him that Craven was psycho and was coming to the house. I could have saved him…I should have…I didn’t do anything…I…I…”

She couldn’t even think straight at this point, Rick had no relatives close. She was his emergency number and as if on cue her cellphone started to ring. She wanted to go and get it but couldn’t, she struggled to get off the bed, but Magnusson beat her to it. When he brought her the phone she tried to calm down enough to answer. After a few seconds she answered the phone to hear a police officer on the other end.

“Hello.”

“Ms. Fink?”

“Yes.”

“This is Detective Moore. Are you alright, ma’am?”

“I just saw the news, I was in the hospital until ten tonight. I had an accident at the Opera House the other night.”

“Thank God you are safe. We are trying to find out who the man was in your house tonight.
